Company brings in talent from Nvidia and Oracle
Substrate AI, the Spanish artificial intelligence company listed on BME Growth, has strengthened its AI computing and infrastructure sales team with the addition of two new senior managers to its team.
The first of these executives is Samuel Akdemir, who will assume the position of COO of Substrate AI, bringing extensive leadership experience in both enterprise and startup environments. Samuel worked at Oracle from 2000 to 2023, where he held senior sales and operations positions in Europe. He then moved into the startup world where he drove rapid growth and managed their organizational expansion. More recently, he has advised AI infrastructure and software companies on go-to-market and scaling strategies. At Substrate AI, Samuel will be responsible for driving operational execution in building their AI Factories and developing their Substrate Cloud platform.
The second is Vivek Ramchander, who brings more than two decades of global technology leadership at companies such as ITC, TCS, HP and NVIDIA where he worked for 10 years, from 2006 to 2016. At Nvidia, he played a key role in the development of revolutionary computing platforms, including the launch of Nvidia SLI with NVLink and Tesla's first Autopilot system. More recently, Vivek has focused on GPU-based cloud platforms and large-scale AI infrastructure. At Substrate, he will lead the company's technology strategy, which encompasses GPU superclusters, ultra-high-density liquid cooling systems and the sovereign AI cloud platform that will make this power available on-demand across Europe.
Substrate AI has been working for some time on its new business plan, which includes the construction and management of AI data centers and the launch of Substrate Cloud in a clear commitment to sovereign AI, key to the deployment of artificial intelligence in companies and governments. The company will market its artificial intelligence factories not as spaces that companies can rent, but by selling computing directly to customers, either to train models, or so that companies and governments can scale artificial intelligence in their operations securely, building systems in the cloud or on premise, training domain-specific models and creating constellations of agents with the Serenity Star agent creation platform.
Its first project is located precisely in Talavera de la Reina, where Substrate AI has moved its headquarters and for which it has a grant of 19 million euros from the regional government of Castilla la Mancha. This project was presented in January of this year and will be a data center of 10 mw of power (5+5) with 79 million of investment that will create more than 50 jobs in Talavera de la Reina.
"The future of AI in Europe depends on a sovereign and sustainable infrastructure based on European technology. To make this possible, companies like Substrate AI must bring together the best talent." notes José Iván García, CEO of Substrate AI. "Samuel and Vivek bring a wealth of experience in expanding organizations and delivering world-class technology platforms. Their addition strengthens Substrate AI's ability to execute its plan and deliver the AI offering Europe needs."
Substrate AI, listed on BME Growth since May 2022, is developing a strategic plan focused on the development of infrastructure and sale of cloud computing. It is currently working on the construction of its first AI Factory in Talavera de la Reina.
